The Just Good Friends Club is a nonprofit, voluntary organisation that supports adults with learning disabilities by providing a safe and friendly environment in which to enjoy evening and daytime social events.
The programme of events are put together with ideas from our members, offering choices and a voice to all. Each club has a committee of members that put forward activities, including: day trips out, curling, botcha, cards, board games, and dominoes.
The clubs offer many things to everyone involved, our volunteers enjoy their time at the clubs as much as members do. A time to chat, make new friends, a time to learn how to socialise with other members of the community and how to respect each other.
Most importantly, our clubs offer friendship, a time to enjoy activies without parents or carers, reduced isolation for anyone living alone, and respite for anyone who lives with an adult with a learning disability.
We currently run 4 weekly evening clubs, 2 ad-hoc nightclub events, 2 weekly daytime clubs, and are starting a weekly sports event. Membership is required to attend the evening clubs (£5 per club), but the nightclub events are open to any adults with a learning disability.
Contact information is provided below, and more detailed information about our clubs can be found on the relavant pages.
We are a nonprofit, voluntary organisation funded through: memberships, sponsorships, the National Lottery Big Lottery Fund, and donations.
